Despite recent adjustments to his abilities, Augran remains a formidable presence in Honor of Kings. The August 8th patch aimed to address his dominance with a nerf to his Skill 2 and an increase in his Ultimate cooldown. However, these changes have not significantly impacted his performance. Augran continues to dominate both ranked lobbies and professional play, highlighting a persistent issue that needs urgent attention.
Persistent Dominance
Since the August 8th nerf, which only targeted his Skill 2 and Ultimate cooldown, Augran's dominance in the game has not wavered. His ability to pass through walls, coupled with his high sustain and powerful execute, makes him a formidable opponent. These nerfs were insufficient to address the core issues with Augran's kit. His skill set still allows him to outlast and outplay opponents with relative ease.
The most glaring example of his dominance is his presence during the recent Road to Honor of Kings Championship in the Philippines. Augran was present in every single match, reflecting a 100% game presence. This level of dominance is mirrored in Indonesia as well, where he has a 95.24% presence. These statistics underscore his overwhelming strength and the need for a more substantial nerf to balance the game.
Issues with Item Pathing and Healing
One of Augran’s biggest advantages is his incredible item pathing. With items like Blazing Cape and Blood Rage, he gains an enormous amount of sustain and damage. His Conductor of Souls ability provides substantial healing, especially crucial in the current teamfight-heavy meta. This healing, combined with his ability to pass through walls and his already robust sustain, makes him exceptionally difficult to counter.
The current item build for Augran amplifies his durability and damage output, making him a consistent top pick. This is problematic because it stifles diversity in jungler picks and forces teams to adapt strategies that revolve around countering him. However, Augran's tankiness means that traditional counters, like Musashi, which aim to delay regeneration, are not effective enough. His healing and sustain need a significant reduction if Honor of Kings wants to introduce a broader range of viable junglers.
The Need for More Effective Nerfs
To effectively balance Augran, Honor of Kings needs to implement more impactful changes. Nerfing his healing would be a good first step in addressing his overpowered state. Additionally, introducing adjustments that make it harder for bruisers and tanks to build their essential items could shift the meta away from the dominance of characters like Augran. This would encourage more diverse compositions and make it less likely for Augran to be the go-to pick in competitive play.
Currently, Augran maintains a 55.25% win rate with a 1.61% pick rate and a 7.92% ban rate. A win rate consistently above 52% indicates that a character is still overpowered. His ability to avoid punishment due to his long range and wall-passing abilities continues to make him a nightmare for melee champions. Unless more substantial nerfs are introduced, Augran will likely remain a top pick, perpetuating the current imbalance in the game.
